After the Event Shop closes, any remaining Essence in your possession will disappear. Don't forget to spend it in time.
Eligibility
Reach Adventure Rank 20 or above, complete the archon quest Prologue: Act II "For a Tomorrow Without Tears," and complete Albedo's story quest "Princeps Cretaceus Chapter" to unlock the event "The Chalk Prince and the Dragon."
Event Guidelines
Completing challenges and claiming rewards will not consume original Resin.
After the event gameplay ends on 2021/01/05, remaining Essence in Travelers' Inventories will not disappear and can still be spent at the Event Shop. The Event Shop will close on 2021/01/12, at which point any remaining Essence will disappear. Spend it while it lasts!
Event Rewards
Complete specified quests and challenges to claim the weapon "Festering Desire" and three kinds of Essence, namely Glimmering Essence, Warm Essence, and Miraculous Essence.
Essence can be used to purchase various items from the Event Shop, including Festering Dragon Marrow (refinement material for Festering Desire), Weapon Ascension Materials, Hero's Wit, Mystic Enhancement Ore, Talent Level-Up Materials, and the Crown of Insight.
As well as purchasing items at the Event Shop, Travelers will also receive rewards for each challenge completed, including Primogems, Mora, Character Level-Up Materials, and Weapon Ascension Materials.
Event Description
This event is divided into four stages: Act I, Act II, Act III, and Act IV.
Travelers can obtain the sword "Festering Desire" by completing the specified quest and improve the weapon's abilities by completing challenges. See below for more details on what's in this event.
Festering Desire
During the event, complete the quest "Festering Desire" to receive the sword of the same name, which has some magical properties.
Festering Desire has three special abilities, which can be activated by completing all challenges in Act I, Act II, and Act III, respectively. Complete all challenges in the first three acts to activate all of Festering Desire's special abilities.
Festering Desire's three special abilities are only effective during the event period. The character equipped with Festering Desire will receive the special bonuses it offers.
During the event period, Festering Desire receives a 1.5× Enhancement EXP bonus when leveling up. Refine the weapon using Festering Dragon Marrow to reach up to Refinement Level 5.
Festering Dragon Marrow can be purchased at the Event Shop with Glimmering Essence, Warm Essence, and Miraculous Essence.
Gameplay Overview
Act I
After updating to Version 1.2, the event gameplay period begins. Complete the quest "Festering Desire" to unlock Act I challenges. Details of the Act I challenges can be found under Act I on the event page.
After unlocking Act I, monsters in the Dragonspine area will drop Rime-Worn Fragments and Rime-Worn Crystals when defeated.
Collect enough Rime-Worn Fragments and Rime-Worn Crystals to reach the challenge goals. Once the challenge is completed, monsters will no longer drop Rime-Worn Fragments or Rime-Worn Crystals when defeated, and these challenge-specific items will disappear from your Inventory.
Travelers who complete all challenges in Act I will activate one of Festering Desire's abilities.
Act II
After Act II begins on December 25, complete the quest "Archon's Rival" to unlock Act II challenges. Complete challenges to obtain Glimmering Essence.
On the map, Travelers will find Testing Grounds marked in the Dragonspine area. Navigate to the Testing Grounds and activate the mechanism to start the challenge.
When the challenge starts, the monsters that appear will receive a buff from the Dragon Force within the Ley Lines. Approach these monsters with caution. At the same time, Snowstorms will cause Sheer Cold to accumulate more rapidly, so be sure not to stray too far from a Ruin Brazier during the battle.
Monsters will attack Ruin Braziers, causing them to temporarily stop functioning. So, be sure to protect Ruin Braziers during the battle.
Travelers must defeat all monsters to complete the challenge. Upon completion, Travelers can claim the reward to receive Glimmering Essence, the quantity of which will be in proportion to your World Level. Glimmering Essence can be exchanged in the Event Shop for items including Festering Dragon Marrow, Weapon Ascension Materials, Hero's Wit, and Mystic Enhancement Ore.
Travelers who complete all challenges in Act II will activate one of Festering Desire's abilities.
Act III
After Act III begins on December 28, complete the quest "Raiders Amidst Snow Mist" to unlock Act III challenges. Complete challenges to obtain Warm Essence.
On the map, Travelers will find Draconic Pilgrimage marked in the Dragonspine area. Navigate to the Draconic Pilgrimage and activate the mechanism to start the challenge.
When the challenge starts, a Warming Seelie will move forwards following the flow of Dragon Force along the Ley Lines. Travelers must accompany the Seelie and defeat monsters encountered along the way. Dragon Force will cause these monsters to receive a buff, so approach them with caution. The Warming Seelie will drop Scarlet Quartz from time to time, which you can use to deal additional damage against the monsters.
After defeating all monsters and when the Warming Seelie has reached its destination, Travelers can claim the reward to receive Warm Essence, the quantity of which will be in proportion to your World Level. Warm Essence can be exchanged in the Event Shop for items including Festering Dragon Marrow, Hero's Wit, and Mystic Enhancement Ore.
Travelers who complete all challenges in Act III will activate one of Festering Desire's abilities.
Act IV
After Act IV begins on December 31, complete the quest "Uninvited Guests" to unlock Act IV challenges.
Travelers can proceed to the location marked as Frostborn Miracle to defeat the Resurgent Cryo Regisvine and salvage Miraculous Essence.
You may choose to enter this challenge in either Single Player or Co-Op Mode.
Drawing on a miraculous life force, the Resurgent Cryo Regisvine is more powerful than most. Travelers must first defeat the monsters that emerge in the surrounding area, then use the Scarlet Quartz they drop to break the Frost Thorn and crush the Cryo Regisvine's shield.
After crushing the shield, a Snowstorm will approach, causing Sheer Cold to accumulate more rapidly. Note that a core forms in the roots of the Cryo Regisvine — this will prove key to defeating it.
Friendly reminder: Use Scarlet Quartz to increase your efficiency in combat.
After defeating the core, the Cryo Regisvine will be rendered inactive for a short period. This is the perfect opportunity to attack — throw everything you have at it!
When the Cryo Regisvine unleashes its power, it causes huge AoE Cryo DMG over a large area. Destroy a Seed of Winter to generate a shield and protect yourself against this attack.
Defeat the Resurgent Cryo Regisvine within the specified time period to complete the challenge. Travelers can claim the reward to receive Miraculous Essence, the quantity of which will be in proportion to your World Level. Miraculous Essence can be exchanged in the Event Shop for items including Festering Dragon Marrow, Talent Level-Up Materials, and Hero's Wit.
