A Thank You to Our Travelers, and What is Yet to Come

Dear Travelers,

Genshin Impact's first closed beta has come to an end. We sincerely appreciate all your support for our game and contributions in this test. During CB1, we have received substantial valuable suggestions and feedback on all aspects of the game such as gameplay, puzzle solving, character design, storytelling and interface improvement. Our dev team will continue to build upon Genshin Impact using the feedback you have provided.

CB1 only revealed a small portion of the game world — Mondstadt is just one of the seven major city-states. In the future, we will try to keep bringing surprises to you in the game, to all our enthusiastic travelers who anticipate a unique, wondrous world of Genshin Impact.

Now, about some frequently asked questions:

1. As CB1 only revealed a relatively primary version of Genshin Impact, we have been getting a lot of inquiries about what kind of game it will be — will it be a solo game, or an MMORPG?

A: Genshin Impact will be an online/multiplayer game, rather than just a solo game. However, it is not an MMORPG either. To be specific, we will keep optimizing the technical elements of the online Co-op Mode, and do everything we can to ensure a stable Co-op experience in both the game world and dungeons. Genshin Impact is fundamentally different from MMORPGs — we want to create a unique world for you that is 100% yours. To be specific, you won't see a Mondstadt bustling with players, and you can totally choose to play alone, enjoying the scenery and peace of mind. Your world will be all up to you — you can be a recluse whenever you feel like, or invite friends into your world if you want — but when they return to their own worlds, everything there will stay exactly the same as when they left. Furthermore, gameplay modes like PVP multiplayer or intense one-on-one battles will not be our future priorities either. Rather, we hope to make a game in which every player can have a whole world only to themselves, but also with the freedom to let friends in.

2. In CB1, there is only Mondstadt with its surrounding wilds in the game world. What plans does miHoYo have for the game's future map? What will Teyvat be like in the future?

A: As per our current planning, Teyvat has seven major city-states, and Mondstadt is just one of them. Of course, there will be many other important sites as well. CB1 only revealed about 30% of the whole game world, which will keep expanding, even after the official release. The fascinating stories of The Seven and the world of Genshin Impact could take years to tell. On that note, Liyue will probably be making its debut in the next large-scale open beta.

3. Will there be other customization options such as outfits, homes etc. in the future?

A: Yes. An open-world game is supposed to provide as much freedom and as many possibilities to players as it can. These kinds of features and elements will become available in future versions.

4. Will Genshin Impact need to run on high-spec devices? Are you planning on optimizing the game's specification requirements?

A: Optimization will be a major concern for us in our future work. miHoYo aims to make it easier for more people to enjoy good games, which undoubtedly involves making our games run smoothly on more device models. That's why we started to make adjustments on Unity when we first began this project — to make things easier in the future in terms of functionality and performance. It is true that Genshin Impact will need to run on devices with relatively high specifications due to its huge volume and rich contents. However, we will do everything we can to ensure that, by the time of the official release, the game will be compatible with and adapted to most mainstream device models to allow for a greater gaming experience. As for high-end devices, we hope to present high-quality graphics while ensuring smooth gameplay.

5. When will Genshin Impact be available on Android?

A: We plan to bring an Android version to the next test.

6. When is the next test?

A: We refer to this test as CB1 within our dev team, which means first Closed Beta test. CB1 is only for testing the game's core gameplay mechanisms, hence it was on a small scale and did not last long. Surprisingly, this project has been receiving a great deal of attention ever since it was first made public, which has made us even more aware of the importance that this beta holds. We deeply appreciate all your valuable feedback, which has brought to our attention a variety of areas in which we can optimize the game. The next test — though expected to have more testers and a longer duration — will still be a closed beta with even more focused testing. This is to ensure that we are able to deliver a higher quality game to our devoted travelers once it is finally released.

We would like to thank you again for your attention and support for Genshin Impact. You can follow our official Facebook Page for any future updates.

To conclude, I would like to quote a message left to us by a player named "kaixinxiaolong" —

Allow me to borrow a few words from Auntie Himeko:

"miHoYo, be brave, keep your head up, and push on! You can make this game the way everyone expects!"
